What’s the difference between car cabin disinfection and cleaning?
Car cabin disinfection targets air quality and surfaces, using atomized gases with sterilizing ingredients such as ozone, silver ions, and photocatalysts, sprayed inside the cabin or air conditioning vents to kill bacteria and viruses during application. Some atomized gases form a protective layer on surfaces, providing ongoing sterilization within the effective period.
Car cabin cleaning covers a broader scope, generally including vacuuming, leather care, plastic, and glass cleaning. Therefore, the cost is relatively higher. Below, we list the price comparison of different service providers.
Is car cabin disinfection really effective?

Unless your car has a strong odor, you generally won’t notice a significant difference after disinfection. However, this doesn’t mean disinfection is useless. It’s similar to having an air purifier at home-unless you use professional measuring instruments, most users won’t notice much difference. For peace of mind, consider choosing providers with certifications from organizations like SGS or TÜV to verify disinfection effectiveness.

Ozone
Ozone is a trace gas in the Earth's atmosphere that can weaken, absorb, or block harmful shortwave ultraviolet rays. When ozone reaches a certain concentration, it can kill bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms within seconds. Another advantage is that ozone decomposes into oxygen, achieving highly efficient disinfection with no residue or pollution. However, inhaling too much ozone can cause breathing difficulties, so do not stay in the car during treatment.
Silver Ions
Silver ions are inorganic natural mineral elements that are mild and non-irritating. The principle is that silver atoms lose one or more electrons and exist in ionic form. Since silver ions are positively charged, when they contact negatively charged bacteria, they attract each other, causing chemical decomposition and killing the bacteria, achieving sterilization. Due to the active ingredients in silver, they can repeatedly decompose bacteria for long-lasting sterilization.
Steam

Steam is the most traditional method for car cabin sterilization. The principle is using the heat of steam to penetrate bacteria, causing protein denaturation or coagulation, leading to their death. Steam contains no chemicals, leaves no allergens, and its high penetration can easily handle bacteria in crevices. However, the moisture in steam may affect the car’s electronic systems, leather, and headliner, so frequent use is not recommended.
Photocatalyst
Photocatalysts are mainly composed of titanium dioxide, which produces redox reactions when exposed to light, decomposing toxic organic substances and airborne organic compounds like mold and smoke, and have antibacterial and antiviral effects. After liquid photocatalyst application, a small amount of dust may appear, which can be wiped with a dry cloth a few hours after application. Avoid using organic solvents for daily cleaning to prevent the protective layer from peeling off.
Water Catalyst

Water catalysts are made from alumina, silica, titanium, phosphorus, and other materials. They are unaffected by environmental conditions (such as light), can decompose formaldehyde and VOCs in the air, and have antibacterial functions. Water catalysts form an antibacterial protective layer on surfaces, providing long-lasting antibacterial effects, and are harmless to humans and the environment, but may not clean crevices thoroughly.
Ultraviolet (UV)
According to Consumer Council data, long-wave ultraviolet (UVC) with wavelengths below 280 nm can destroy the DNA or RNA molecular structure of bacteria and viruses, causing their death and loss of reproductive and infectious ability, thus achieving sterilization. Some artificial light sources, such as welding and sterilization lamps, can produce UVC. However, UVC only provides one-time sterilization, does not form a protective layer, and has low penetration-best for smooth surfaces.
Nano / Nano Needle
Using atomizing equipment, nano disinfectant is evenly sprayed onto surfaces, forming anano needle-shaped protective layer. When viruses contact the needle-shaped layer, the virus cells are pierced and destroyed by the positively charged nano needles, causing them to decompose and die. The nano needle protective layer can last up to 180 days, and daily cleaning does not affect its protective ability.
