The Hong Kong government announced in the 2024 Budget on February 28, 2024, that it will extend the electric private car 'One-for-One' scheme for another two years with the following three adjustments: The reduction amount will be decreased by 40%, with the maximum exemption for the first registration tax under the 'One-for-One' scheme for electric private cars reduced from HK$287,500 to HK$172,500. The exemption cap for general electric private cars will be reduced from HK$97,500 to HK$58,500. Electric cars with a pre-tax price of over HK$500,000 will not receive any tax exemption.
